FOUNDING FATHERS OF P.S.CHARITIES

P.S. Educational Society was formed as the Educational Agency of P.S. Charities in 1974

Brahmashri Pennathur Subramania Iyer, who was an Attorney at Law of the Madras High Court at the time of his death in March, 1901, had by his last Will & Testament dedicated his Shrotriem Estate of Minjur Arianvoyal to a charity, the form which he left to be decided by the Executors of his Will viz., Mr A. Sitarama Iyer and Mr. P.S. Ganapathy Iyer. He further desired that the Executors should draw up a proper Trust Deed for his purpose in the consultation with and approval of his friend S. Subramania Iyer, who was then Chief Justice of the Madras High Court.

In order to pursue more vigorously the secular and educational objectives, of the P.S charities as distinct from its religious and other charitable objectives, P.S Charities decided in 1974 to form a Society named 'P.S Educational Society' as an adjunct of the Charities.

 In August 1904, a deputation of the Mylapore public waited upon the Executors of the Will with a proposal to start an English medium School in which the study of Sanskrit should gradually made compulsory for all pupils and special provision made for imparting religious and moral instruction on purely nonsectarian lines based on the general principles of Hindu Dharma. On 27.12.10904, the Executors of the Will drew up a Deed of Trust and thus, came into existence the Pennathur Subramaniam Charities.
